Is Job Umbrella free?

Yes. The job-application tracker is free to use. The AI features (resume builder, customizer, job-title and job-board recommendations) run on a shared free daily allowance. If you want more, you can bring your own free API key to unlock unlimited use, and a paid subscription is planned as an option later.

What is BYOK (bring your own key)?

BYOK lets you paste your own free AI provider key into Settings. When you do, your AI usage isn't metered against the shared daily limit. Your key is encrypted at rest and never shown back to you or sent to the browser.

How does the AI resume builder work?

You build a profile (manually or by importing an existing resume), and Job Umbrella generates an ATS-friendly resume from it. You can then customize that resume to a specific job description so it mirrors the role's keywords, and pick a career level — entry-level, professional, or executive — that shapes tone and emphasis. Export to .docx or .pdf.

Which browsers does the extension support?

Chrome and Firefox today. The extension captures a job posting from the page you're on and adds it to your tracker with one click. A Safari version is planned.

Which job boards can I search?

The Find Jobs page builds prefilled searches for twelve major boards, including LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter, Monster, Dice, SimplyHired, Google Jobs, Wellfound, Built In, CareerBuilder, and We Work Remotely. Job Umbrella can also recommend which of those boards best fit your profile.

Do you sell my personal data?

No. We don't sell your personal data. You control your information, and you can export or delete it. See the Privacy Policy for the full details, including how ads (when introduced) and any third-party services are handled.

Can a case manager or coach see my job search?

Only if you choose to share it. Sharing your job-search history with a case manager or coach is opt-in and revocable — you grant access, and you can withdraw it at any time. Tools for coaches and case managers to support their clients are on the roadmap.

Is my data secure?

Your account is protected with modern authentication, your data is isolated per user, and any AI keys you provide are encrypted. We use industry-standard security headers and rate limiting across the app.
